Life at Calvary

Our Values

Worship

Worship of the triune God is the center of our common life and our primary way of witness to the faith, hope, and love we have in Jesus Christ (Book of Order, W-1.0107).

Prayer

We respond to God’s grace through the gift of prayer. The Christian life is one of constant prayer, as the challenge of everyday discipleship requires daily disciplines of faith. (Book of Order, W-5.0102)

Christian Education

Studying Scripture is part of being a faithful member of the church. Sermons at Calvary intend to connect our daily lives with God’s Word. The ancient words of the Bible might have been written thousands of years ago, but today, they remain, not only relevant, but influential to who we are today. By looking at the context of the writers of the Bible and our context today, we hope to find meaningful insight into God’s love in the world and how we get to be a part of it.

Fellowship

We gather on Sunday at 10 AM for our coffee hour

Outreach

We respond to God’s activity in the world through service to others:

  • We partner with Friendship House, providing transitional housing and an empowerment center that is located at the church.
  • We provide suppers once a month to Andrew’s Place, a shelter for homeless men in Wilmington.
  • Second Sunday Sharing: Each month we partner with a different local agency.  We invite you to bring the requested items on the second Sunday of each month.

Joy

People at Calvary take the work of faith seriously but still can laugh at themselves and with others.
